About Paris Wine Walks
20 centuries of Parisian wine history
Eco-friendly, informative and delicious
Historical, cultural, tasting tours that walk you through the vinous history of Paris... discover the wine background of the quarter and savour a themed wine tasting in the very best wine cellars in the city. History comes alive as we tread upon the ancient soils of Paris' forgotten terroirs. Morning tours feature wine tastings and optional lunches in select wine bars, while afternoon tours offer wine tastings and optional aperitif wine bar dishes, some tours combining visits to open markets, bakeries, cheese shops or specialty food shops. Our choice of wine bars and wines offer natural, living wines made organically and biodynamically - wines bursting with real taste.
Another side of Paris
Each tour begins with a living vineyard (sometimes only a few vines), which connects us to the soil of Paris and its 'terroir'. Though all of the vineyards we visit produce grapes, only Montmartre produces wine that we can taste. In all other cases, the included wine tastings in wine shops and wine bars focus on the varietals that were planted in the Paris region historically. By following this trail of vines, each tour covers a different neighbourhood and its wine history, offering you the chance to discover another side of Paris' history. But the tours don't stop there. The real wines we taste (natural, organic, biodynamic, always accompanied with something to nibble) inspire a connection with Paris' wine history that allows our imaginations to journey back through time.
Hidden vineyards, wine professionals
Most of our visits are in hidden corners of the city with limited public access. Paris Wine Walks escorts you to these historic locations, offering you an intimate glimpse of these secret vineyards. Our guides are all wine professionals who will develop the themes introduced in the vineyards (varietals and history) by selecting wines to bring these histories alive, while furthering your understanding of agriculture and vinification techniques.
Seasonal bistro cooking
Most of our wine walks include a lunch or aperitif in a select winebar or 'caviste' (wine shop) whose wine and food philosophy matches our own. Locally sourced, market driven, seasonal, organic foods served with flare and originality provide an authentic dining experience that pairs perfectly with the wines we taste. Traditional bistro cooking is enhanced by original, innovative touches and vibrant taste to further our understanding of France's rich culinary history.
