Holiday Twilights Saint-Germain-des-Prés
Discover the vinous spirit of medieval Paris illuminated by holiday lights
Service Description
A limited December series focused on the magic of Saint-Germain-des-Prés during the festive season. Paris at twilight in December is enchanting: glittering lights, warm shop windows, crisp air. This special edition elevates the existing wine walk with seasonal touches—gentle, atmospheric, and cozy, without becoming touristy or kitschy. We begin our walk in front of the oldest church in Paris, through which we walk to reach the smallest of Paris vineyards, with its roots in the same soil that gave life to wines in the Middle Ages. The church of Saint-Germain-des-Prés is one of the most illustrious in terms of Yuletide decorations and the quarter is among the most enthusiastic in celebrating the festive lights of the season. Our walk affords us the opportunity of sensing the spirit of place in one of Paris' oldest and most renowned quarters. This walk includes a comprehensive tasting of wines in the charming, historic, Marché Saint-Germain. Seasonal delicacies, exquisite cheeses, and rustic organic bread accompany the tasting. Includes • Visit of the Square Laurent Prache & Saint-Germain-des-Prés • History of the medieval farms and vineyards • Background to viticulture and agriculture • Varietal tasting of vines planted in the square in a wine shop • Some of the best bread in Paris, accompanied by exquisite cheeses, and seasonal vegetables Time & Cost • 2-4 hours long • 115 € per person morning or afternoon vineyard visit and cellar wine tasting • Exclusive (maximum 12 wine enthusiasts) • Natural, organic & biodynamic wines • Very easy (not even a kilometre of walking) Practical info • Start time 4:30pm • Please let us know if you have food allergies or intolerances. This tour generally includes gluten (bread), dairy (raw cheese) • Not for children (minimum 16 years old) • Minimum 6 participants (combined or private bookings)
